The King's Speech
are a demanding audience, and as such I feel a certain reluctance to historical films and costumes. Rebuilding stories whose testimonies are a few vague or too often leads to new interpretations of misleading or boring, the result of wrong intuitions and pseudo clever scripts. So what does The King's Speech a 'must see'? What makes it one of the fiercest competitors to the statuette Best Film and one of the best films of the year? The feeling, knowing how to touch the viewer to carry the story. The story of George V, King suffered from stuttering, is made as the drama of a man in front of his nation, the people who saw in him a light and a hope. The frustration of a man knowing that disappoint those who put trust in him, be to play a role beyond its capacity, the drama of a human being first, and after a king. Hooper staged a precise reconstruction and not excessive, the historical references are there to service the film and the story without dragging cotestualizzare But the caricaturist. The rest of the actors do a perfect ensemble interpretation, Colin Firth confirms the good things seen in A Single Man, Rush and Bonahm Carther govern the game perfectly. If the first thought that the Oscars would be a run-way, now I can say that The Social Network has a worthy rival.

Toro Y Moi, il video di Still Sound
We spent a few words about the second album Toro y Moi, 'Underneath The Pine', out February 22 via Carpark and, until now, without a single. A 'withdrawal that ends with the arrival of the video for' Still Sound ', directed by Stevend Daniels has chosen to immortalize Chaz Bundick intent in simple daily tasks.

How Can I Tell If I Have Herpes Peroxide
Cloud Nothings - Cloud Nothings
soft as a cloud but scratching like a tiger, no not a new spot of handkerchiefs is simply the first definition that comes to me when I think about Cloud Nothings. After a debut that had catapulted them to the list of the most interesting American band, the boys from Cleveland back with an album that affirms their character and marks a new step forward. If the definition that opened this review seems strange let me explain, we talk about sound and that of Notings Cloud is the most lo-fi can be. The guitars and rough tracks the attitude almost punk leave room for smarter, more elaborate pieces, full of energy as in the past but also imbued with emotions and a composition carried by more careful and less carefree. Of course, I'm not talking about hyper accuracy of Everything Everything, but a feature of their own, a trademark that guarantees the arrival of the next step debut with just hype. America is now a breeding ground band that churns out at breakneck speed, just read the latest reviews of this blog to see how each 'child' of the New Continent you are earning a place of honor in the lists of the best. Dylan Baldi and associates are no exception, have the merit of being true even though this leads them to be tough and play a particular. I am still of the opinion that in front of pieces such as 'Should Have' or 'Nothing Wrong' is there to applaud and highlight their name to precisely beside the words of great hope.

Plan B How Long Does It Stay In Your Body
Il leader dei The Horrors in Vaticano
I know this may seem a strange title, but I assure you that it makes sense. Faris Badwan, lead singer of the band The Horrors, has just opened his side project, named Cat's Eyes, which sees him collaborate with the Canadian opera singer and multi-instrumentalist Rachel Zeffiro. To baptize their baby, the two have chosen a rather unusual location, the basilica of San Pietro in Rome. The debut took place in December when, in the presence of cardinals and the faithful who have gathered together there for the event, the Cat's Eyes performed their song 'I Know It Was Over' with a arrangimaneto organ, voice and choir. Some friends of the band have managed to introduce surveillance cameras in evading the basilica, the result is a video so bizarre and evocative.
The debut disc of Cat's Eyes is set for Feb. 28, the day of release of the EP 'Broken Glass' in the Polydor label, the same that they will release the debut album (self-titled ) in the April 11 release in the United Kingdom and the United States on May 3 (sub label Cooperative Music / Downtown). The whole project has been registered with the produtorre New Order and Happy Mondays Steve Osborne in studies of properties Peter Gabriel. If you want to download the song 'Not A Friend' you can do on the band's official website in exchange for your email address.

Ducktails - Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamic
If you want to hear something simple i Ducktails are certainly not the way indicated. The first approach is the brainchild of Matthew Mondanile one that will displace you and confusing, and an album as 'Landscape' was able to express this 'splendid misery' in an elegant and personal. How to make even better an already perfect? How to avoid ruining a great atmosphere? The answer is contained for much of the eleven tracks on the new job Mondanile, 'Arcade Dynamics'. Let's start with a feature so marginal as important as the introduction of the song, previously absent, and now (even this very small) helps create an atmosphere of catchy in its own way. The voice of Matthew arricchise precious melodies like that of 'Hamilton Road' while remaining in the typical size of the sound Ducktailks. The quality of this album is therefore to be able to broaden the horizons of listening to the project without distorting it, improving them where maybe it was too heavy for the more adventurous listeners. There are still the most classic pieces made only of simple melodies that keep the spirit of Mondanile and his quirky lo-fi creature. I also want to point out that, along with the aforementioned 'Hamilton Road', is the best track of the album: I speak of 'Killin' The Vibe 'a piece that sees the collaboration of Benjamin Noah Lennox, aka Panda Bear.

Vallanzasca Angels of Evil for Best Adventure
There is a perfect image to describe the new film directed by Michele Placido, and that is a great engine that is idling at a standstill, leaving the same spot for 120 minutes. It may seem harsh, but probably this is the true nature of 'Vallanzasca Angels of Evil', the film pretentious, full of self of the author and perhaps just crushed to death by him. But from the beginning, by Renato Vallanzasca, the character skillfully reconstructed by Kim Rossi Stuart, who in the seventies guilty of many crimes, so much to be condemned twice life imprisonment. The film traces the birth and the end of man, flying in part on the criminal and painting the character as a gentleman thief. In doing so, however, the film falls into ruin on his own hectic, overly fast, so as to disorient the viewer with its many changes and with a flurry of people more or less dashed. And it is the desire to talk too much about 'Renatino' to destroy the film, the camera loved him attack him without giving a logical sense to the facts that happen around this time personeggio protagonist when (unfortunately) solo. Stuart does his best to give credibility to a caricature, too close to the figure of heartthrob than to that of criminal and too flat to be able to raise the slightest interest around the events that involve them. Surrounded by controversy over an alleged role cut out for the murderer as a hero, 'Vallanzasca Angels of Evil' proves to be rather harmless and outdated. 'It has an enviable pace' according to Corriere della Sera, in short, the machine stops, however, is always there.

How To Lower High Hematocrit
White Lies - Ritual
is very difficult to go back to talk about White Lies, a band that for some sections that I like but I think it quite unnecessary for others. 2009 was the year that saw the launch of Harry McVeigh and associates with the album 'To Lose My Life', a launch that has followed the usual script, UK: much hype, tons of covers, and powerful individuals, I is strange to say, a good album. The flaw, however, I would say the weak point of the band was live. Li, on stage, the three kids British children seemed out of place with a mixture of embarrassment and awkward euphoria. Emerged as the immaturity the band, many accused of being 'fake' but that certainly had been in a situation much larger than themselves. 'Bigger Than Us' precisely because decontextualizing the title of the most powerful track of the album is found precisely the perfect analysis of this latest production. 'Ritual' comments could be put on disk as the problems of the band, an album that seeks to assert a maturity absent, which leaves boldly (or cunningly) the ardor of onset and who fails in his attempt to persuade. 'Bigger Than Us' is perhaps the rare event of considerable interest to ten songs, soporific, and in some cases I would say nothing. Take the first track on the album, 'Love Is', vain attempt to reproduce the sounds of songs like 'To Lose My Life' or 'Farewell To The Fairground', however, making them completely harmless and no more biting as three years ago, I can not tell if the band wanted to dare too many sins of self-esteem or this 'Ritual' is a simple and clumsy pursuit of career, I can only say that White Lies have shown their great weakness.
